Our bricking is working on, there was only a little bit progress, however our front is now fully bricked. Unfortunately I don't think that they have managed to get the verandah right.
The yellow line above shows the floor level. The capping on the verandah wall appears to be lower than the floor level. Therefore if we concrete in the verandah with a step down, all that will be visible of our front verandah from inside will be a bit of the capping brick, which isn't good enough. Below is an extract from a drawing, which to me shows that the verandah wall should be 300mm above the finished floor level.
I've written a letter to this extent that will be sent on Monday. I only really wrote a letter to help explain things, not because I was overly concerned. Her indoors has mentioned this to the brickie and he thinks that he has interpreted the drawing correctly. His argument is that the front wall needs to be below the vents (because you can see the vents in the drawing). These vents are drawn with dashed lines and there is another dimension that shows 300mm which I think counter his argument, however I think this should all be sorted.
This is what I think it will look like if we put steps off the front verandah if they build it the way I think it should go.

Doors arrived
Popped by this evening to see what has been happening. Our brickie is back and progressing. He's up to the soldier course (vertical highlight bricks) under the lounge room window.
Inside the doors have been delivered. There were 11 tall doors and 11 short doors. The architraves were delivered, along with a manhole lining.

The roof looks great from the air
Nearmap has been updated again. I didn't notice at first, because if you don't zoom in enough in some areas you can't see a new image. Here's the latest.

Cornices all done and floor boards finished
Popped by this arvo.
The cornices are up
And the floor boards are done.
We were a little worried about how the cornice finishes near the bedroom window, however looking through our photos of the display house this is what we will have to do:
Pelmetted curtains it is then.

Plaster and Floor Boards
Sorry I haven't updated in a while, things are going a little slowly, however things are at least happening.
We were told that the floorboards will be installed on Thursday and this seems to have been happening. I went by on Thursday morning and saw some young guys moving the plaster around and apparently the boards were delivered that afternoon.
Today we went by and I could see that quite a few of the corninces have been put up and another group of young guys were working away inside, I assume that they were installing the floor boards.
We received our Frame stage invoice on Thursday. This included a frame inpsection form, so I thought I would ask the inspector what they thought of a few of the issues that I had seen. The response was "Oh, I didn't notice that. I'll have to go back and have a look on Monday." At least he was honest but I hope that he doesn't slow things down.
I just updated our selctions a little, I will try to get back to this to go through our colours.

Our Brickie works Saturdays
Stopped by the house on Saturday morning and the brickie was continuing his slow but methodical work. It was lovely standing out the front of the house chatting to all of the neighbours as they were wondering past.
It's really starting to get more real now. Looking forward to moving more and more.

New Brickie on Site
News just at hand from her indoors.
We have a new brickie on site. Apparently he has put in some nice terracotta vents. He also said that he will be the only brickie on site and that he will be there for three weeks.
